East Coast Estuary
Ripples on the stoney shore, water rising up the dry grey canvas, painting darker grey with each lick.
Dark green speckles match the dark green border frowning my view. I think of you.
Birds skate the horizon, belly skirting the surface - worlds beneath, breathing.
The water line rising like lungs in a chest. Reflections of above can be seen below.
Distortions may appear closer than they are, light bending like memories reframed and
Refracted through new lenses and as another ripple breaks on the shore
My heart rests as I see things a little clearer than before.
The ripples come and fade like each passing breath, the distortions follow suit.
The tide is coming in.
