The Dream
Waking up to you lifeless, our hands in prayer
I look into your eyes and you’re not there.
A sad peace, you died happy at least
Waking up to a cold empty bed, was
All of what happened inside of my head?
To have you hear, a wish held so dear.
Waking up to the reality of how things are,
I wanted real, not perfect. To wish upon a star
Might be futile, the sparks between us brutal.
I’ve woken up to you walking away,
I still thank God you have life for today.
In different arms, shielding you from harm.
